Homemakers helped us to keep Mom at home by Kathy Katocs Corcoran When I think about the care that the Homemaker-Home Health Aide Services of Beaver County provided to my Mother, the words "kind and competent" come to mind. I will always be grateful for the high quality and loving care provided to my Mother by the agency. From the time Mom moved in with me and my family in 1999 until her death in 2001, the agency and its employees were an integral part of our lives. I was impressed by the assessment the agency did before taking Mom as a client. They came to our home and helped us determine the level of care Mom would require. They also provided me with helpful hints on how to safeguard her living area and to help Mom remain as independent as possible in managing her daily activities. Mom insisted that I keep my job outside the home, as she wanted to disrupt our lives as little as possible. My worries about her being alone the entire day were lessened as we arranged for agency assistance for a few hours a day at lunchtime. As her health declined, we increased the hours of care, until we had coverage from the time I left for work until I returned. The agency recognized the importance of continuity of care and assigned one caregiver, Linda, to help us. Mom enjoyed Linda's company and looked forward to seeing her each day. When she was able, Mom loved to pass the time playing cards. My family and I will always be grateful to Linda for the many hours she spent as Mom's companion, in addition to being her caregiver. We were fortunate that Mom's finances covered most of the care she required. But there are many others who may not be as fortunate. When you give to Homemaker-Health Aide Service of Beaver County, you are helping those less fortunate to receive the help that they need to be able to stay in their homes and to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. When Mom passed away, we chose the agency as the recipient of memorial donations. In addition, my support of the agency's mission led me to become a board member. It is now my privilege to help ensure that high quality care is available for others less fortunate. I hope you will add your support to our cause.
Client Testimonials I am writing this letter to commed Becky in the care she has given to my Mother over the past several years. She has enabled me to be able to go to work each day with peace of mind knowing that my Mother has a caregiver who is dependable, takes excellent care of her and keeps me informed if she encounters any problems. She is an outstanding caregiver and a wonderful person. She is a good example of the important role the Homemaker-Home Health Aides play in serving the senior citizen population in Beaver County. Becky and the other workers help the elderly maintain their dignity and independence.
Always,
